You have probably heard about it by now. “The slap heard across the world.”
It was at the Oscar’s Film Awards. Comedian Chris Rock made an off-colour quip about Jada Pinkett Smith having a shaved head. Her shaved head is a result of an autoimmune disease called Alopecia. Whether Rock knew that I am not sure. Will Smith originally laughed but his wife rolled her eyes and gave Smith the stink eye, at which point, Smith went up on stage and slapped Rock to “defend his family”.

Will Smith was born on 25 September 1968 at 21:47 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

What was happening in Smith’s chart? Firstly, in his natal chart, he has Mars, the planet of war, in the fourth house of family and home. He will naturally defend his family as this is a go to reaction for him. When you are behaving unconsciously, you will enact your basic instinct reflected in your chart. Also, the dwarf planet, Ceres is in his first house, meaning he has his family, children especially, on the forefront of his mind. He had transiting Mars, the planet of aggression, close to the Midheaven, the most visible part of the sky. The Midheaven can be considered one’s public persona and it is the cusp of the tenth house. The transiting Moon was conjunct the Midheaven and near transiting Mars as well suggesting this time would be emotional and yes, you could say he felt he was defending his family. Transiting Saturn, the planet of structure and of the old disciplinarian was conjunct transiting Venus, the ruler of women, and it suggests he would care for the women in his life. His transiting Jupiter was opposite his natal Jupiter. Jupiter metes out justice and since transiting Jupiter was opposite his natal placement it suggests he was looking for justice from his “opponents”. Chris Rock was born in Andrews, South Carolina, USA on 7 February 1965 at 10:00 (a B rating time), however, the time of the slap he has transiting South Node (tail of the dragon) on his eighth house. The eighth represents other people’s values. However, what is interesting are the converse transits for the day. Converse transits and progressions are the planetary placements going backwards the same amount of time as you would go forward.
With the converse transits, he has Uranus, the planet of surprises and revolts conjunct his Midheaven, the house of his public persona or career. The converse New Moon is conjunct his pre-natal eclipse suggesting this evening might bring about some interesting events. Venus, the planet of women, appears in the tenth house, the house of the public persona. This aspect suggests to me, sorry conspiracy theory types, it was actually a surprise and around issues involving women. As we can see, both actors in this drama had their life played out by planetary connections.
